Opening Ceremony of 'Play Me, I'm Yours' Melbourne 2014

Introduction

'Play Me, I'm Yours' is an art and music event that has been touring internationally since 2008. At the time this event came to Melbourne, more than 1000 acoustic pianos had already been installed in 38 cities around the world, from London to New York, seen by more than 4 million people worldwide. Located in public parks and cultural centres, on bridges and at train stations, the pianos are distinctively decorated by artists, and are there for the public to play and enjoy.

We are the only music school and we are the only group of children who performed at the Opening Ceremony of 'Play Me, I'm Yours' at the Arts Centre Melbourne. Our youngest performer is 6 years old.

In this project, the students gained an insight into the life of musicians, experienced first-hand a musician's commitment to practice, rehearsals and performance and dedication to teamwork. They also had the opportunity to explore spaces within the Arts Centre complex that are inaccessible to the public. Indeed, an opportunity of a lifetime from Charteris Music School and Arts Centre of Melbourne! An experience they will remember fondly throughout their lives!

More About Us

At Charteris Music School, we have an unwavering commitment to bring music education to our community. With over 30 years of music teaching experience, students have ranged from a tender age of 3 to adults and beyond.

Our innovative programs inspire creativity, and encourage fun and enjoyment while learning occurs. Students play great-sounding music from the beginning.

Everyone deserves the best opportunity to realise his or her potential. At Charteris Music School, we encourage a love of music throughout our students' life at the music school and beyond.

We bring fun to musical achievement and inspire creativity.

We also offer our students the opportunity to take part in prestigious performance events, for example, with The Arts Centre of Melbourne and be part of the Victorian Government's Australia Day Ambassador program (a wonderful way to understand what it means to be Australian!) We don't know of other music school/music teacher that is able to offer such sought-after opportunities!

Previous students, many who were children when we first met them and who are now adults, continue to speak highly of us. Some who are now parents send their own children to us for lessons - this is our greatest compliment.

Our music school is made up of two units. Please click on the option that suits you best:-
